Central Oregon Coast

Our next campground south was the KOA in Waldport, OR. It was a great location overlooking the Waldport bridge (above) and bay. Millie even got to soak in a few rays before the clouds returned that night.

The town of Newport had an even larger arched bridge with a picturesque fishing boat harbor. There was a long row of restaurants and shops along the harborfront that made us regret not having more time to spend there.

On our drive down from Tillamook to the ports, we had decided to leave Highway 101 to drive the Three Capes Scenic Drive (Cape Meares, Lookout, and Kiwanda). Cape Meares featured this very unusally Sitka spruce called Octopus Tree with 8 trees growing out of it's trunk. Other views from the drive are below. Of course, no ocean drive would be complete without a stop for Millie to swim and fetch sticks (this one was big!).
